Why I’m Running as an Independent — and What That Means for District 55

Putting People Before Party in the State House

Why I’m Running as an Independent — and What That Means for District 55

As the 2026 election season begins, back in November, I announced my candidacy for Alabama State House of Representatives, District 55 as an independent. My decision is rooted not in opposition to any party, but in a commitment to the people of our district—to put their needs before political loyalty, rhetoric, or partisan agendas.

For too long, voters in District 55 have been told what to expect from their representatives, not invited to shape the policies that impact their daily lives. Families struggle with rising costs, seniors worry about healthcare access, and small businesses face over regulation that limits opportunity. It’s clear that party allegiance alone is not addressing these challenges.

Independence Means Accountability

Running as an independent allows me to prioritize accountability over party politics. My votes will reflect what is best for the district—not what is convenient for a party caucus or political benefactors. I will work with legislators of all affiliations when it advances meaningful solutions and oppose policies that harm Alabamians, regardless of who sponsors them.“My loyalty is not to a party caucus. It is to the people of District 55.”A Focus on Solutions, Not Symbols

Independence also allows me to focus on the issues that matter, rather than symbolic gestures that appear productive but fail to deliver real results. My campaign is grounded in practical solutions for our community:

Cost of Living & Utilities Stability: Reducing the financial strain on families while maintaining fair, transparent city and state policies.Healthcare Access: Advocating for expanded Medicaid and policies that ensure seniors and working families receive the care they have earned.

Cannabis & Hemp Industry Reform: Promoting fair licensing and access for small businesses and patients, while protecting communities from overreach.Public Safety & Civil Liberties: Supporting law enforcement while ensuring citizens’ rights and dignity remain intact.

Economic Development & Opportunity: Creating pathways for small businesses and entrepreneurs to thrive in District 55 without excessive dependence on federal dollars.

Through these priorities, I embrace the ACT framework that guides my campaign:

Accountability, Community Engagement, and Transparency. This framework ensures that action, dialogue, and clarity remain central to governance.

Working Across the Aisle Without Compromise

Being independent does not mean being isolated. I will collaborate with both Democrats and Republicans, along with other independents, on policies that benefit our district. But my independence guarantees that collaboration will never come at the expense of the people’s interests. I will not trade votes for favors or allow partisan politics to dictate outcomes.

“Independence doesn’t mean isolation. It means negotiation with integrity.”

A Call for People-First Leadership

In 2026, the voters of District 55 have a choice: continue accepting the status quo, or elect someone committed to putting people before party. My campaign is about more than winning a seat—it’s about redefining what leadership in Montgomery can look like. It is about listening, engaging, and responding to the real-life concerns of our neighbors.

As we begin this new year, I invite residents of District 55 to join me in shaping a government that is accountable, transparent, and truly representative. Together, we can make history and demonstrate that leadership rooted in principles, integrity, and common sense can succeed in Alabama.
