Winston County Sheriff Caleb Snoddy has announced his endorsement of Jay Mitchell for Alabama Attorney General.

Winston County—sometimes called the “Free State of Winston” for its proud, independent spirit—has long taken a tough stance on crime. Sheriff Snoddy began his public-safety career there as a corrections officer, later rose to chief deputy, and in 2023 was elected sheriff. He has earned local trust through a proactive approach that his office says has lowered crime and improved the quality of life for residents.

“My job as Winston County Sheriff is simple: put away bad guys and make our communities safe,” Snoddy said. “Jay shares that same boots-on-the-ground mentality. He’ll be the partner Alabama Sheriffs need in Montgomery—he has my full confidence and support.”

Beyond the badge, Snoddy has become a fixture in his community, known for promoting public safety and traditional values that resonate in the heart of the county. He added: “I’m proud to support Jay Mitchell because I think we deserve an Attorney General that’s as conservative as we are.”

Mitchell accepted the endorsement and praised Snoddy’s style of policing. “Caleb Snoddy doesn’t flinch. If you’re in trouble, he’s the one you want kicking in the door and coming to help. I’m inspired by his leadership and honored to have his endorsement. We’ll work together to make sure Alabama law enforcement officers have what they need to keep fighting the good fight.”
