Republican candidate Brent Woodall is picking up outside support in his bid for Alabama Public Service Commission Place 2, with two national and grassroots groups announcing endorsements this week.

Focus on America and Stand for Freedom are both backing Woodall, citing his message on energy policy, individual liberty, and government accountability. The endorsements come as the PSC race draws increased attention ahead of the Republican primary.

Focus on America, a national advocacy group, promotes pro-growth economic policy, energy independence, and limited government. Stand for Freedom, a grassroots organization, focuses on personal liberty and what it describes as government overreach, including in health policy.

Woodall said the support aligns with the core message of his campaign.

"I'm incredibly honored to receive the endorsement of Focus on America and Stand for Freedom," Woodall said. "These organizations are leading voices for freedom and accountability, and I'm proud to stand alongside them in the fight to put Alabama families first."

Woodall is challenging incumbent Commissioner Chris Beeker, as well as former Auditor and PSC Commissioner Jim Zeigler and Priscilla Andrews in Place 2, a race that has drawn significant interest from voters concerned about power costs and oversight of utilities. He has centered his campaign on lowering energy bills, increasing transparency at the PSC, and pushing back on what he calls undue influence from special interests.

"I will work to lower power rates, bring real transparency to the PSC, and make sure it is no longer controlled by special interests in this state," Woodall said. "Alabama families deserve a commission that works for them — not the utility companies."

Woodall entered the race positioning himself as a reform candidate focused on consumer costs and accountability. He has also spoken out against legislative efforts that could limit or restructure PSC elections, arguing voters should continue to have a direct voice in utility oversight.

The Alabama Public Service Commission regulates utilities across the state, including electricity providers, making the race one to watch for both industry stakeholders and ratepayers.
