Former Tide Quarterback AJ McCarron’s campaign is proudly reporting over $105,000 in funds raised in November.

A statement from the McCarron campaign released on Tuesday said that:

"When a newcomer and first time candidate raises more than $105,000 during the first month of his candidacy, it delivers a strong message of support and scares the heck out of the political insiders who created Montgomery's good ol' boy system.
“Unlike the career politicians who raise their money from political action committees, contract lobbyists, and special interests seeking influence in exchange for contributions, every dime that AJ raised came from individuals who are eager to elect an outsider candidate with a fresh perspective.
“The campaign continues receiving pledges and financial commitments by the day, and we will have the resources necessary to broadcast AJ's outsider message of conservative change and strong leadership throughout the Republican primary season."

The McCarron campaign is rightly proud of their initial efforts, but a review of filings from the other Republican candidates shows newcomer McCarron lagging behind his more experienced opponents. McCarron reported cash on hand of $98,749.40 at the end of November, placing him behind Wes Allen ($997,217.95), Rick Pate ($532,728.44) and Dr. Nicole Jones Wadsworth ($230,812.54).

Rounding out the Republican field are Dean Odle ($15,697.31) and Patrick Bishop ($1,637.88).
