Alabama Candidates Call For Investigation Into Undisclosed PAC Spending
Several candidates sign Open Letter to Secretary of State Wes Allen to investigate, hold accountable the American Conservative Fund PAC
We, the undersigned candidates for public office in the state of Alabama, are calling for an immediate investigation into the alarming lack of transparency and unlawful conduct surrounding political spending by the “American Conservative Fund.”
Despite its name, this out-of-state PAC is anything but conservative. According to federal records, the American Conservative Fund is bankrolled by sports betting companies DraftKings, Fanatics, and FanDuel. The group is actively backing candidates in State House and Senate Republican primaries across Alabama.
These companies have contributed a combined $26.6 million to the PAC for use in races across the country. However, the people of Alabama have no clear understanding of how much of that money is being spent here, because the PAC has failed to provide the timely and transparent financial disclosures required under state law.
State requirements are not ambiguous, and we demand immediate action.
The Alabama Secretary of State’s Office must enforce the requirements outlined in its own PAC Filing Guidelines, which read:
1. “All PAC's that are raising or spending money to influence an election for a state office or local office in Alabama are required to file campaign finance reports with the Secretary of State, regardless of whether they currently file with the Federal Election Commission.”
2. “ If a federal PAC is giving money to state or local candidates, they should register as a PAC with the Secretary of State and file campaign finance reports under the Alabama Fair Campaign Practices Act.”
The American Conservative Fund is a federal PAC, and it is raising and spending money for Alabama political candidates. Despite these clear facts and legal requirements, this PAC continues to secretly spend significant sums of money influencing Alabama elections without being held accountable by Alabama election officials.

This raises serious and urgent concerns. The people of Alabama have a right to know:
1. Who is funding this massive political effort.
2. How much is being spent to influence Alabama elections.
3. Why this out-of-state gambling interest is refusing to file financial disclosure reports.
Transparency and accountability are not optional, they are the foundation of fair and honest elections. When outside groups bypass these requirements, it undermines public trust and the integrity of our electoral process. These disclosure laws exist for a reason, and they must be enforced.
This issue is not about gambling itself. It is about transparency, the rule of law, and ensuring that the people of Alabama have the information they deserve. No out-of-state corporate interest should be allowed to ignore the law in order to secretly influence our elections.
We call on Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen to immediately hold this PAC accountable, investigate the full extent of any noncompliance, and ensure Alabama’s campaign finance requirements are fully enforced.
Alabama voters deserve complete transparency. Anything less is unacceptable.
