Alabama Citizens for Life Backs Jay Mitchell for AG
Leading pro-life group endorses Mitchell for Attorney General, citing his court record and long-standing ties to the movement
A major pro-life organization in Alabama is throwing its support behind former State Supreme Court justice and Attorney General candidate Jay Mitchell.
Alabama Citizens for Life, the State affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, announced its endorsement of Mitchell this week, calling him a proven leader on pro-life issues.
The group’s President, Dan Gardner, praised Mitchell’s record, particularly his time on the Alabama Supreme Court.
Gardner described Mitchell’s leadership on life issues as being “second-to-none,” pointing to what he called an exceptional judicial record.
Mitchell welcomed the endorsement and emphasized his long-standing alignment with the pro-life movement.
“For over 20 years, I’ve been marching in lockstep with Alabama’s pro-life movement, fighting alongside my fellow conservatives to protect the unborn and defend Alabama’s Constitution. It’s a profound honor to be designated as their ‘Pro-Life Leader’ in this race,” Mitchell said.
Looking ahead, Mitchell said he would take an active role in enforcing Alabama’s pro-life laws if elected attorney general.
“Alabama needs an Attorney General who will go on offense for life. I won’t look the other way while abortion pills flood into our State through the mail. I will enforce the law and prosecute any illegal attempts to expand abortion in the State of Alabama,” he said.
