Congressman and candidate for U.S. Senate Barry Moore (R-AL-01) has signed the Moms for Liberty Parents Pledge.

The pledge, sponsored by the national parents rights organization Moms for Liberty, is a values-based commitment to promote school transparency, resist government interference, and safeguard the rights of parents to guide their children’s education and upbringing.

Moore signed the pledge in Huntsville recently with Emily Jones and other members of Moms for Liberty looking on. Moore was in Huntsville speaking the the Huntsville Log Cabin Republicans (LCR), who have often shared meetings with Moms for Liberty in the past.

The location of the meeting was restricted to those who RSVP’d to the event because of safety and security concerns. The local chapters of both Moms for Liberty and LCR have been the targets of protestors recently, and the restriction of the venue was necessary to avoid any such unpleasantness.

In signing the pledge, Moore said:

“Parents, not bureaucrats, should be the primary decision‑makers in their children’s lives. By signing this pledge, I’m standing with families across Alabama and the country to protect their right to guide their kids’ education, medical care, and moral upbringing. I’ll always fight for policies that put parents back in charge of their kids' lives.”

Emily Jones, President of Moms for Liberty-Madison, commended Moore for his stance:

“The Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge is simple but powerful: parents are the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives. When a candidate for U.S. Senate publicly affirms that principle, it elevates the conversation and sends a clear message that parental rights are foundational. Congressman Barry Moore understands that strong families build strong states, and we are grateful for his leadership and his willingness to stand unapologetically for transparency, accountability, and the fundamental rights of parents.”

Andy Black, President of LCR Huntsville, also voiced his support of Moore’s action:

“When strong organizations come together around a shared purpose, we can make a real difference for families. We believe every parent deserves a safe, healthy, and quality education for their children, and that schools must remain transparent and accountable to the families they serve. Thank you to Congressman Barry Moore, Candidate for United States Senate, for signing the Moms for Liberty Parent Pledge and standing with parents.”

Moore joins a number of Alabama’s elected officials who have signed the parents pledge, including Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth, Commission of Agriculture and Industries (and candidate for Lt. Gov.) Rick Pate, Alabama Secretary of State candidate Caroleene Dobson, AL-3 congressional candidate Terri LaPoint, AL-6 congressional candidate Case Dixon, State Senator Arthur Orr, and State Representatives Ernie Yarborough and Parker Moore.

Emily Jones, herself a candidate for Alabama State School Board in District 8, has also signed the pledge.

The pledge is not an endorsement, but candidates and officials who sign it have expressed their support for the rights of parents to choose what they deem best for their child.

To date, Moore is the only Alabama U.S. Senate candidate who has signed the parents pledge.

Moms for Liberty, a national nonprofit advocacy group, has been active in organizing parents to push for greater say in education and family-related policy. The organization is encouraging both elected officials and parents to take the pledge through its website.
