Congressman Barry Moore is rapidly consolidating support across Alabama’s Republican Senate field following his first-place finish in Tuesday night’s primary election.

In less than 24 hours after the polls closed, three former opponents — Seth Burton, Rodney Walker, and Morgan Murphy — have now publicly endorsed Moore heading into the June 16 runoff election.

The endorsements represent a significant early show of unity behind the Trump-endorsed congressman as Republicans begin shifting toward the runoff against Jared Hudson.

Former candidate Seth Burton announced his endorsement on Wednesday afternoon, praising Moore’s conservative record and willingness to challenge Washington.

“Congressman Moore has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to conservative principles through both his words and his voting record,” Burton said. “He has consistently shown a willingness to challenge the destructive status quo in Washington and fight for the Constitutional values that sustain our Republic.”

Burton also called Moore and Hudson “two strong candidates” and said he looks forward to “a vibrant, free, and open debate” leading up to the runoff.

Rodney Walker also announced his support for Moore after what he described as “lots of prayers and consultation.”

“I have decided at this point, after lots of prayers and consultation, that I will at this time endorse Barry Moore,” Walker said. “I would like to ask all of those who have supported me to now support Barry and let’s join hands and move forward. He is a businessman and a Christian, just like myself.”

Walker additionally praised Moore’s experience in Congress and support from conservative leaders across Alabama.

Morgan Murphy had already publicly backed Moore in March, before the primary election, urging conservatives to unite behind the congressman and President Trump’s endorsed candidate.

“Hey Alabama, I’m on the ballot but don’t vote for me,” Murphy posted Monday. “I’ve endorsed Barry Moore, the pick of President Trump and a solid conservative with a proven track record.”

Moore finished Tuesday night with approximately 40% of the vote, well ahead of the rest of the Republican field, as momentum around his campaign continues to build heading into the runoff, which takes place on June 16.
