Madison County District Attorney Rob Broussard announced Friday that he is endorsing Katherine Robertson in Alabama’s June 16 Republican runoff for Attorney General.

The endorsement adds another high-profile law enforcement name to Robertson’s growing coalition of Sheriffs, prosecutors, and police leaders supporting her campaign.

Broussard has served as District Attorney for Alabama’s 23rd Judicial Circuit since 2009. In a statement released by the campaign, he said Robertson’s record inside the Alabama Attorney General’s Office set her apart from other candidates seeking the state’s top law enforcement post.

“Over my years as District Attorney for Madison County, I’ve worked alongside three different attorneys general, and one thing has become very clear to me — some people seek the office because they are committed to the mission and willing to take on the difficult work the job demands while others see it merely as a stepping stone to the next position,” Broussard said.

“There is no question in my mind that Katherine Robertson is fully committed to the mission of serving as attorney general.”

Broussard pointed to Robertson’s decade of work in the attorney general’s office as evidence of her commitment to the position.

“She has dedicated the last ten years of her career to serving in the attorney general’s office. She stayed when the work was hard and difficult, and she remained committed when other opportunities were presented to her. That kind of loyalty and conviction matters,” he said.

“I believe Katherine has the ability to become one of the most effective and influential attorneys general in the nation, and I encourage all Republicans to join me in supporting her on June 16th.”

Robertson, who currently serves as Chief Counsel in the Alabama Attorney General’s Office, will face former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell in the June 16 runoff.
