Coosa County Sheriff Michael Howell has endorsed Katherine Robertson in her campaign for Alabama Attorney General, citing her record of supporting law enforcement and commitment to the rule of law.

Howell, a lifelong resident of Coosa County, said the State needs an Attorney General who will work closely with local law enforcement agencies and stand firm for victims of crime.

“As Sheriff of Coosa County, my first responsibility is protecting the citizens I serve. That mission requires strong partnerships with leaders who respect the rule of law and support law enforcement. That’s why I’m proud to endorse Katherine Robertson for Attorney General. Our State needs an Attorney General who will stand up for victims and ensure our laws are enforced fairly and effectively. I’m confident Katherine Robertson has the leadership and dedication to serve Alabama and be a strong partner to law enforcement across the State,” Sheriff Howell stated.

Robertson currently serves as Chief Counsel to Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall and has held the role since 2017. In that position, she has helped guide criminal justice policy and litigation for the State, while working closely with law enforcement leaders and prosecutors across Alabama.

Robertson welcomed Howell’s endorsement and praised his service to the people of Coosa County.

“I am grateful for Sheriff Michael Howell's endorsement and for his unwavering dedication to keeping Coosa County and all of Alabama safe,” said Katherine Robertson. “Sheriff Howell's service exemplifies the courage and commitment that our State relies on every day. I look forward to continuing to partner with Sheriff Howell and law enforcement leaders across Alabama to protect our communities, uphold the rule of law, and ensure justice for victims.”

Robertson’s campaign says the endorsement adds to growing support among law enforcement officials across the State. In recent months, she has secured backing from several sheriffs and public safety leaders as she builds a coalition ahead of the 2026 Republican primary.

Robertson, an attorney from Dallas County, previously worked at the U.S. Department of Justice and served as legislative counsel to former U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions before joining the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.

The Republican primary for attorney general is scheduled for May 19, 2026.
