Dr. Cindy Wigley’s Record of Results Makes a Strong Case for Re-Election
After interviewing Dr. Cindy Wigley, I came away impressed not only by her qualifications but by her passion for education and her unwavering commitment to the students, teachers, and families of Marshall County.
As part of my work on Angela’s Sweet Tea and Politics, I interview candidates so voters can hear directly from the people asking for their vote. I take that responsibility seriously. My goal has always been to provide hardworking families, busy parents, and everyday citizens with information they can trust so they can make informed decisions about their communities. As a conservative who deeply loves this country, our values, and our local communities, I spend a great deal of time researching candidates before offering any opinion or endorsement.
After interviewing Dr. Cindy Wigley, I came away impressed not only by her qualifications but by her passion for education and her unwavering commitment to the students, teachers, and families of Marshall County.
Dr. Wigley has served as Superintendent of Marshall County Schools since 2015 and is currently serving her third term. Before becoming superintendent, she spent more than three decades working in education as a teacher, principal, career technical education director, and district leader. That level of experience is difficult to match and provides a depth of knowledge that can only be gained through years of hands-on leadership.

During the interview, what stood out most was her command of the details. Whether discussing transportation, school funding, accountability measures, workforce development programs, or facility improvements, Dr. Wigley demonstrated an extensive understanding of every aspect of the school system. She did not rely on talking points. Instead, she provided detailed explanations of how programs operate, how funding is allocated, and how decisions are made.
The results of her leadership are significant.
Under Dr. Wigley’s administration, Marshall County Schools improved by a full letter grade. The district has expanded career technical education opportunities, increased industry-recognized credentials by more than 400 percent, improved attendance rates, strengthened college and career readiness programs, secured millions of dollars in grants, and invested heavily in school safety and facilities.
Her leadership has also focused on transparency and accountability. Marshall County Schools have consistently received clean audits while managing a budget exceeding $74 million. The district makes financial information available to the public and has implemented systems designed to keep employees and citizens informed about board actions and district operations.
What impressed me most, however, was not simply the accomplishments themselves. It was Dr. Wigley’s obvious passion for the work. In all my years of interviewing candidates, I cannot recall meeting someone who was more intensely committed to their profession. She clearly knows the school system inside and out and is constantly looking for ways to improve educational opportunities for students.
Throughout this campaign, Dr. Wigley has focused on discussing her record, explaining district operations, and highlighting future opportunities for Marshall County students. Rather than engaging in personal attacks, she has emphasized transparency and results.
I generally reserve endorsements until election season, and I do not make them lightly. But after conducting this interview, reviewing her record, and listening to her vision for the future, I feel compelled to offer my full endorsement of Dr. Cindy Wigley for Superintendent of Marshall County Schools.
The proof truly is in the pudding. The district’s improvement, the expansion of opportunities for students, the successful management of taxpayer resources, and the clear passion she brings to the job all speak for themselves.
Marshall County has made substantial progress under Dr. Wigley’s leadership. Based on her record of achievement, experience, and commitment to students, I believe re-electing Dr. Cindy Wigley would be a tremendous benefit to the future of Marshall County Schools and the children they serve.
