Entire Alabama Republican Delegation Votes Yea

Tuesday night the House passed a continuing resolution (CR), largely along party lines, that will allow the government to continue operating through September 30. The final vote was 217 to 213, with one Democrat (Rep. Jared Golden, Maine) and one Republican (Rep. Thomas Massie, Kentucky) voting against their party.

The CR now goes to the Senate, which must pass it by Friday to avert a government shutdown.

Rep. Barry Moore (AL-1) said on X:

“Today, I voted for a CR to fund border security, ensure a strong national defense, and freeze spending at current levels so we can cut waste, fraud and abuse and reject the status quo of out-of-control spending. We must keep the government running so we can continue advancing President Trump’s America First agenda!”

Rep. Gary Palmer (AL-6) retweeted a post from Speaker Mike Johnson, who said:

“Today, House Republicans stood for the American people and voted to maintain funding the paychecks for our troops, the agents who secure our borders, the TSA workers responsible for safe air travel, as well as the healthcare and benefits for veterans, and essential services and programs that keep the government operational. But House Democrats decided to double down on partisan politics.
“For years, House Democrats have railed against government shutdowns, but they suddenly changed their tune when President Trump returned to office. Their falsehoods and misinformation campaigns are a desperate attempt to distract from their own failures. Despite these tactics, President Trump and Congressional Republicans will stop at nothing to deliver on the mandate given by the American people.
“In a shameful display of coordinated political theater, Democrats are willing to run out the clock on funding the government in a failed attempt to block the America First agenda. Now it’s decision time for Senate Democrats: cast a vote to keep the government open or be responsible for shutting it down.”

Representatives Dale Strong, Robert Aderholt and Mike Rogers had not made statements available on the passage of the CR at press time.
