Robertson's Dark Money Addiction and Reckless Spending Driven by Lack of In-State Support

Jay Mitchell Opens Up $700,000 Lead in Cash on Hand in Attorney General Race

From the Mitchell campaign

BIRMINGHAM, AL—Attorney General candidate Jay Mitchell today announced $2,174,376.61 in campaign cash on hand and now leads the race by an authoritative $714,341.78. Those figures include $142,200 raised during the month of November. 99.9% of those dollars come from conservative donors here in Alabama.

Mitchell's team emphasized that his campaign is "Alabama-built" and "Alabama-backed," in stark contrast to opponent Katherine Robertson, who reported another haul of out-of-state, anti-Trump, pro-abortion money. She accepted $150,000 in traceless funds through yet another brand new shell group, which was created to skirt FCPA requirements and hide problematic donors from Alabama voters. This brings Robertson's dark money total to a staggering $1.3 million for this campaign cycle.

Mitchell said, "My opponent is taking outrageous amounts of anti-Trump money, hiding it from the public, and spending like crazy it to falsely market herself as a pro-Trump candidate. It's an exploitation of campaign finance law and a brazen attempt to mislead the citizens of our state. Someone running to be our chief law enforcement officer should not be conspiring with out-of-state powerbrokers to bend the rules in this way."

The campaign emphasized that more than 95% of Mitchell's total campaign funding is Alabama-based, and 100% of it is transparently reported. Mitchell said, "Our support comes from people who live here, work here, raise families here, and actually care about what happens to this state.

Mitchell's solid fundraising lead is a testament to local leaders, business owners, law enforcement officers, and everyday families who want an Attorney General who answers only to the people of Alabama.
