Birmingham, AL – Republican attorney general candidate Katherine Robertson began airing a new television ad on Tuesday that exposes Jay Mitchell’s ‘tough-guy’ act as an election-year stunt. The ad cites Mitchell’s work as a registered foreign agent who personally lobbied Hillary Clinton’s office on behalf of the Muslim country of Uzbekistan, which consistently ranks among the most anti-Christian nations in the world.
“In recent weeks, we have watched Jay Mitchell try to convince Alabama Republicans that he has suddenly become some kind of MAGA warrior with ads ranging from humorous to patently absurd,” campaign manager Annabel Martinson said. “Imagine our surprise when we learned that Mitchell was once a registered foreign agent for Uzbekistan and personally lobbied Hillary Clinton’s office. While Katherine Robertson has spent her entire career as a leader in the conservative legal movement, Mitchell has exposed himself as nothing more than an ambitious corporate shill.”
Mitchell’s campaign has spent more than a million dollars on television, radio, and mail promoting his tough talk that those who stand with radical Islam can “Allahu Akbar your butt back to the Middle East,” and even announced his multi-point plan to “stop the spread of Islam” in Alabama as recently as this week.

But, according to records from the U.S. Department of Justice, which are shown in the television ad, Mitchell was a registered foreign agent of the Muslim regime of Uzbekistan in 2007, and specifically lobbied the office of Hillary Clinton, who served as a U.S. Senator at the time.
Mitchell is the only candidate in the history of Alabama politics to register as a foreign agent for a Muslim country.
Currently, Uzbekistan is ranked 15th on the world watch list for the “Worst Places To Live As A Christian,” and possession of Bibles and unauthorized religious material is banned. During the time period Mitchell lobbied for Uzbekistan, Muslim authoritarian President Islam Karimov received 91% of the vote in what was termed a “farce” election, and suicide bombers targeted both the U.S. and Israeli embassies located there.
Additionally, Mitchell has vowed to fight Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs, commonly known as DEI, making statements that include, “The only DEI I believe in is Deport Every Illegal” and claims that he will “block the woke left [and] dunk on the libs,” but records show that he failed to block or dunk within his own firm.
The ad highlights the fact that Mitchell practices law at a firm that openly embraces and promotes DEI programs and mandates attorneys to undergo DEI training.
Under Katherine Robertson’s leadership in the Attorney General’s Office, Alabama worked to root out illegal DEI hiring practices utilized by big law firms across the country.
The script for the ad, which is airing on digital platforms and television stations across the state and can be viewed HERE, reads:
Announcer: Jay Mitchell says he’s “Trump tough” — who’s he kidding?
Mitchell was a partner at a woke law firm that promoted DEI.
That’s not all. He was a registered foreign agent for Uzbekistan
Woke lawyer…lobbyist for a Muslim country…
That’s not Trump tough, that’s a weak fraud
