Birmingham, Alabama — Ken McFeeters, Republican candidate for Governor of Alabama, today announced the launch of a GoFundMe (The Tuberville Truth Fund) campaign seeking to raise $50,000 to fund a federal lawsuit challenging Tommy Tuberville's eligibility to serve as Governor under the residency requirements of the Alabama Constitution.'

The legal fund will be used to cover attorney fees, court costs, filings, discovery, document acquisition, expert analysis, depositions, and other expenses associated with pursuing the case through the federal court system.

At issue is Article V, Section 117 of the Alabama Constitution, which requires that a Governor be a resident citizen of Alabama for at least seven years immediately preceding the election.

McFeeters contends that substantial evidence raises serious questions about whether that constitutional requirement has been satisfied and believes those questions deserve to be examined openly and thoroughly before Alabama voters cast their ballots.

"This effort is not about Republicans versus Democrats, nor is it about personalities," McFeeters said. "It is about whether constitutional qualifications for public office matter. If the Constitution says a candidate must meet certain requirements, those requirements should be verified and enforced equally for everyone."

Prior to announcing the lawsuit, McFeeters pursued relief through the Alabama Republican Party's candidate challenge process. According to McFeeters, his efforts to obtain witness testimony and supporting documents were denied, and requests for additional time to develop evidence were rejected.

"I believe the people of Alabama deserve transparency and a full examination of the facts," McFeeters said. "Whether someone supports Tommy Tuberville, opposes Tommy Tuberville, supports me, or opposes me, every citizen should agree that constitutional requirements should be applied fairly and consistently."

McFeeters stated that the federal lawsuit seeks an independent judicial review of the residency question and an opportunity to present evidence in a forum where facts can be examined under established legal procedures.

The fundraising campaign is open to anyone who believes constitutional qualifications for public office should be enforced and that voters deserve a transparent review of the facts before Election Day.

Individuals interested in supporting the legal effort can contribute through the GoFundMe campaign and follow updates as the litigation progresses.
