The Rotary Club of Greater Hoover has recognized its founding President, Tanveer Patel, for her leadership during the club’s inaugural year, marking the close of a term that helped establish the organization as a new force for community service in the Hoover area.

Patel received a crystal recognition award from Assistant District Governor Bob Van Loan in honor of her service during the 2025–2026 Rotary year. The engraved plaque carried a simple message: “Thank you for your service.”

The recognition comes less than a year after the Rotary Club of Greater Hoover was officially chartered as Hoover’s second Rotary club. The organization launched in 2025 with 21 founding members and joined Rotary International’s global network of service organizations.

Patel served as club President alongside President-elect Raymond Osbun, Vice President Debra Hays, Treasurer Tabassum Halim and Secretary Adil Patel.

When the club was formed, Patel outlined an ambitious vision for its role in the community.

“The launch of a Rotary Club of Greater Hoover will strengthen our community by uniting passionate leaders and volunteers,” Patel said. “It drives initiatives in learning, health and economic development, while offering networking, youth empowerment and global outreach elevating Hoover as a beacon of compassion and progress.”

Throughout its first year, the club focused on community engagement and service projects designed to strengthen connections across the greater Hoover area. One of the club’s signature efforts was the launch of a Neighborhood Bridges initiative intended to connect residents with opportunities to meet local needs and support families in the community.

Patel said the recognition reflects the work of the entire organization rather than any one individual.

“This recognition truly belongs to every member of our club,” she said. “What we accomplished this year was only possible because of the collective dedication, heart, and teamwork of this incredible group of people. I am grateful to serve alongside each and every one of them.”

Her leadership of the new Rotary club is only one part of a long record of civic involvement. After immigrating to the United States from Bangalore, India, in 1990, Patel built a career in technology and health technology, co-founding companies including ConcertIDC and ConcertCare. She has also served as President of the Birmingham Venture Club and Chairman of TechBirmingham.

Patel is also known for helping establish the Red Crescent Clinic of Alabama, a nonprofit organization that provides free healthcare services to hundreds of underserved patients each year.

The club now enters a new chapter under incoming President Samtha Shah. Members say the transition will build on the foundation established during the club’s first year while expanding its reach and impact across the Hoover region.

The Rotary Club of Greater Hoover is part of Rotary International District 6860, which serves communities across north and central Alabama. Rotary International includes more than 1.4 million members worldwide committed to community service and humanitarian projects.
