The Moore You Know: Alabama Agriculture Scores Big in President Trump's One Big, Beautiful Bill

President Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill” is a historic win for the American people. This bill is exactly what true conservatives in Congress have been fighting for - policy that puts Americans first. 

Here in Alabama’s First Congressional District, our rural communities will see real wins that deliver for generations to come. Agriculture is the heart of Alabama’s economy. Our state is blessed with hardworking producers who grow cotton, peanuts, soybeans, and corn, raise cattle, poultry, and catfish, and contribute billions to our state’s economy. 

Our farmers want the government to get out of the way and let them do what they do best – put food on our table.  

One of the biggest wins for our producers in President Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill is the long-overdue update to reference prices under the Agriculture Risk Coverage and Price Loss Coverage programs. These changes mean real protection for our cotton, peanut, corn, and soybean producers at a time when input costs are exponentially high due to Joe Biden’s failed economic policies.   

Our producers deserve the financial certainty they need to continue producing for our nation. This is the kind of reform that helps Alabama producers thrive, and I was proud to fight alongside President Trump for it every step of the way in the House.

Another important victory in the bill is the permanent repeal of the estate tax for family farms and small agricultural businesses. Too many Alabama families have had to sell land passed down through generations just to pay absurd taxes after the loss of a loved one. 

Preserving family farms continues their meaningful legacy and protects Alabamians from Washington’s overreach. Alabama land belongs to Alabama producers, not Washington bureaucrats.

We have also secured pro-growth tax policies and trade reforms in this legislation. By extending bonus depreciation and lowering tax burdens on small farms and ag businesses, we’re helping Alabama producers reinvest in their operations. President Trump’s America First policies ensure our farmers have access to fair markets and strong export opportunities around the world.

The One Big, Beautiful Bill has $293 billion in savings due to SNAP reforms with $59 billion in reinvestments in rural America. One of the biggest investments is reducing barriers through trade deals and investing in export promotion to sell more agricultural goods abroad. Approximately 25% of all U.S. agricultural production is exported annually, with some commodities exporting more than 90%. By reducing the barriers to trading around the world, we are empowering America’s producers to earn more income here at home. 

This bill proves that when true conservatives lead here in Washington, Alabama wins.
