Alabama U.S. Senate candidate Rodney Walker is calling on ABC and The Walt Disney Company to terminate late-night host Jimmy Kimmel following remarks made on his network program.

Walker’s statement aligns with criticism voiced by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, who have also called for Kimmel’s removal.

“It’s time for the ABCs of the world to take a stand. Disney and ABC have a choice to make, and they have to make it now. Either Jimmy Kimmel goes, or every American who watches this knows exactly what that network stands for,” Walker said.

Walker tied his criticism to comments made on Kimmel’s show in the days leading up to an attempted attack on the president.

“Two days before a gunman tried to kill the President of the United States, Jimmy Kimmel went on national television and joked that the First Lady was glowing like an expectant widow. The shooter left a note. He said it was his duty to take out the Trump administration. You don’t get to put those words on the air, watch what happened Saturday night, and then hide behind a comedy bit.”

He continued, “The President is right. The First Lady is right. Fire him. Not suspended. Not warned. Fired.”

Walker also drew a distinction between political humor and what he described as harmful rhetoric.

“Comedians have ribbed every president and every first lady in my lifetime. This isn’t that. This is a man with a nightly platform on a network that walks into millions of American living rooms — including homes here in Alabama — using that platform to wish a sitting First Lady widowed. Days before someone tried to make it happen.”

He closed his remarks with a warning directed at network leadership.

“Enough. ABC and Disney need to take a stand. If they won’t, the American people will. And we will remember every executive who chose Jimmy Kimmel over decency.”

Walker, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate, is a businessman, cattleman, helicopter pilot, and former sheriff’s department aviator. The Republican primary is set for May 19, 2026.
