Woodfin Backs Lumpkin in Final Push for HD 60
Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin renewed support for Alicia Escott Lumpkin ahead of Tuesday’s House District 60 election
With Election Day set for Tuesday, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin renewed his support for Alicia Escott Lumpkin in the race for Alabama House District 60, pointing to her years of work inside Birmingham city government and her focus on neighborhood investment.
Woodfin said residents across the district are looking for leadership that will help revive struggling commercial areas and bring new economic growth to western Birmingham communities.
“For months, I’ve stood on porches across District 60 and listened,” said Mayor Woodfin. “Folks off Highway 78 have well-kept homes and deep roots. They aren’t going anywhere. But they’ve watched their commercial corridor decline for 16 years, and they deserve better.”
The mayor said District 60 needs a representative who can build partnerships between state and local leaders to attract investment and improve public services.

“Alicia has spent 17 years inside Birmingham city government doing the work,” Woodfin said. “She helped clean up hundreds of illegal dump sites in our neighborhoods. She worked on public safety programs that actually brought crime down.”
Woodfin also praised Lumpkin’s work on issues affecting working families, including healthcare access, education, and investment in underserved areas.
“She knows what it takes to deliver because she’s been delivering,” Woodfin added. “She’s running because District 60 raised her, and she’s ready to fight for it in Montgomery. District 60 deserves better than finger-pointing and excuses. District 60 deserves Alicia.”
Lumpkin said she is thankful for the support she has received throughout the campaign and said voters are focused on the future of the district.
“I’m grateful for Mayor Woodfin’s continued support and for every voter who has welcomed us into their homes throughout this campaign,” said Lumpkin. “Tomorrow is about the future of District 60, and I’m ready to fight for safer neighborhoods, more opportunity, and stronger investment in our communities.”
Election Day is Tuesday, May 19. Polls across Alabama will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
