You Wanted to See Tommy Tuberville’s Game Plan? Well, Alabama, Here It Is!
He’s proposing a public scoreboard that tracks his administration’s promises, deadlines, and measurable results.
Well, I certainly stirred up a conversation!
After my recent article pointing out that Senator Tommy Tuberville has a game plan for Alabama while his opponent, Doug Jones, has not presented a comparable detailed blueprint, more than 500 comments came rolling in. And the question I kept seeing was, “Where’s his plan? We want to see it!”
Fair enough! If you’re asking Alabamians to trust you with the governor’s office, you ought to put your plans on paper.
And that’s exactly what Tuberville has done.
His “Back to Basics: The Golden Age Playbook” is available at www.coachforgovernor.com.
Now, let me give you the meat and potatoes without making you read an entire policy book.
First, JOBS! Tuberville wants economic development reaching all 67 counties, not just Huntsville, Birmingham, and Mobile. His strategy targets manufacturing, aerospace, defense, technology, and corporate headquarters, with a goal of $20 billion in new investment during his first term.
Second, YOUR MONEY! Alabama families are tired of working harder and watching their paychecks disappear. Tuberville proposes eliminating the state grocery tax, gradually cutting income taxes, protecting seniors from property tax increases, and preventing data centers from raising residential electricity bills.
Third, EDUCATION! This one matters to me. His proposed Alabama Life Ready Act would strengthen reading and math through eighth grade, expand First Class Pre-K, and hold schools accountable. Every eighth grader would identify a career interest, and every tenth grader would choose a path toward college, the military, or a skilled trade.
And here’s something I appreciate as a mother: Not every successful child needs a four-year college degree!
Fourth, SMALLER GOVERNMENT! Imagine Montgomery remembering whose money it’s spending! Tuberville proposes auditing every state agency, consolidating at least 12 agencies, eliminating unnecessary regulations, and generating an estimated $150 million to $200 million in annual savings once reforms are implemented. Those savings would help fund income tax reductions.
Fifth, LAW AND ORDER! Tuberville proposes additional state troopers, stronger cooperation with federal immigration authorities, and a statewide gang unit. His goal is reducing violent crime by 20% in Alabama’s four largest cities during his first term.
And protecting our CHILDREN? He proposes stronger background checks for adults working with children, a public registry of convicted child abusers, improved foster care protections, and tougher enforcement against online predators.
Sixth, INFRASTRUCTURE! Here’s one North Alabama drivers will appreciate! Tuberville wants a funded plan within his first year to widen Interstate 65 to three lanes each way from Tennessee to Mobile. He also proposes expanding rural broadband, improving small-town water systems, and strengthening the Port of Mobile.
Seventh, HEALTH CARE! His proposal includes expanding telehealth, recruiting rural doctors, reforming certificate-of-need regulations, protecting rural hospitals, and cracking down on Medicaid fraud without expanding Medicaid.
But here’s what really caught my attention.
Tuberville calls the final section “Hold Me to It.”
He’s proposing a public scoreboard that tracks his administration’s promises, deadlines, and measurable results.
Every state agency would have a public performance plan within 90 days. His targets include eliminating the broadband backlog affecting approximately 92,000 homes and businesses, expanding school choice to every family, and preventing additional rural hospital closures.
Now, writing a plan doesn’t guarantee success. The Legislature must cooperate, budgets must balance, and promises must become results.
But there’s a difference between making campaign promises and giving voters something specific to measure.
So, to the hundreds who asked to see Tuberville’s plan, there it is!
Read it yourself. Question it. Hold him accountable.
And here’s my question: We’ve seen Tuberville’s detailed blueprint. Where is Doug Jones’s comparable plan for Alabama?
Because November 3 shouldn’t be about who delivers the prettiest speech. It should be about who’s prepared to govern.
Leadership requires more than promises. It requires a plan, accountability, and the courage to put your name on both.
Tuberville has put his plan on paper. Now Alabama gets to decide.
