Cullman, AL — Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) Chairman John Wahl is putting young conservatives at the center of the political conversation, emphasizing that young Alabamians must play a central role in shaping the state’s political future. In a recent appearance on the Alabama Student Eagles podcast with Brady Johnson and Jill Blocher, Wahl spoke about why engaging students now is crucial for the Party’s growth.

“Young conservatives are not the future of the Republican Party — they are the present,” said Wahl, who became the youngest state party chairman in the entire Republican National Committee when elected in 2021. “We’re watching a major shift happen in the political landscape. More young voters are backing President Trump, more students are embracing conservative ideas, and they’re doing it because they’re fed up with being told that young people automatically belong to the left. This generation is rejecting that pressure. They want freedom, opportunity, and a real voice in shaping their own future. We’ve seen the strength of this movement in the leadership and influence of Charlie Kirk, whose work has energized students nationwide and built a powerful legacy of young conservative activism. His example proves just how hungry this generation is to step up, lead, and make a difference.”

Wahl continued, “Gen Z are looking for authenticity and real purpose. When we talk with students, we find strong support for freedom, limited government, and the right to chart their own path in life. Our responsibility as a Party is to open doors for them, give them real opportunities, and show them they have a home and a voice in the Republican movement.”

He also praised the work of the Student Eagles organization. “Groups like the Alabama Student Eagles are developing leaders and giving students the tools they need to serve their communities and uphold the conservative principles that make Alabama strong. Their impact is already being felt statewide.”

Podcast co-host Brady Johnson said, “We were honored to have Chairman Wahl on the show. His passion for investing in and equipping young conservatives is incredibly encouraging. His message of faith and freedom resonates deeply with students across Alabama, and we are grateful for his leadership. This is exactly the kind of commitment young people are looking for from our political leaders.”
