The Alabama House Republican Caucus has unveiled its 2025 "Alabama Values" legislative agenda, emphasizing conservative principles and initiatives for the upcoming session.

House Majority Leader Scott Stadthagen stated, "The 'Alabama Values' name represents the conservative beliefs and values that most Alabamians embrace, but, at the same time, it also represents the morals and principles that we 'value' as a people."

He added, "Our caucus members stand unanimous in support of this agenda, and we look forward to promoting these conservative ideas and beliefs throughout the upcoming session and beyond."

Key Priorities of the 2025 Legislative Agenda:

  • Tax Relief: Cutting taxes for Alabama families and small businesses.
  • Parental Rights: Strengthening protections for parents in education and healthcare decisions.
  • Second Amendment Protections: Banning red-flag laws that could restrict gun ownership.
  • Medical Freedom: Passing Right to Try 2.0 to expand treatment options for patients.
  • Cash Protections: Prohibiting restrictions on cash transactions.
  • Election Integrity: Strengthening election security and transparency.
  • Economic Growth: Promoting policies to encourage job creation and business investment.

The legislative platform was developed by an ad hoc committee of Republican House members, co-chaired by State Representative Kerry "Bubba" Underwood.

He noted, "Because our Republican members came forward with so many quality bills, measures, and proposals that deserved inclusion, the agenda committee decided to outline broad principles in our agenda rather than individual pieces of legislation."

He further explained, "At the end of the session, we will detail a list of the Republican-sponsored bills passed by the House that fit within the framework of each category of our agenda."

In addition, the Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) released its 2025 state legislative agenda, focusing on conservative governance. ALGOP Chairman John Wahl emphasized, "The Alabama Republican Party firmly believes that government’s first priority should be serving the people it represents."

He continued, "We are committed to supporting policies that help those in need, safeguard American values, and defend the fundamental rights of each and every single individual."

Wahl concluded, "The Republican Party wants to see Alabama leading the nation in common-sense policies that defend the people and their fundamental rights. It’s time to put people first again. That’s our goal this legislative session."

These agendas set the stage for the legislative session beginning on February 4 in Montgomery, where Republican lawmakers aim to advance these outlined conservative principles.
