Congressman Barry Moore emerged Tuesday night as the top vote getter in Alabama’s crowded Republican U.S. Senate primary, positioning himself as the clear frontrunner heading into the June 16 runoff election.

With nearly all precincts reporting, Moore was sitting at approximately 40% of the vote, far ahead of the rest of the field. Jared Hudson narrowly secured second place with roughly 26%, edging out Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, who remained around 25% as final votes were counted.

The results capped off a dramatic rise for Moore, who entered the race months ago as an underdog but steadily gained momentum following endorsements from President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.

Tuesday night, supporters packed Moore’s election watch party as the congressman addressed the crowd with a speech centered on faith, gratitude, and what he called a “walk in faith” toward the Senate race.

“We literally came from last place in the first poll to first place tonight,” Moore told supporters.

Moore also credited President Trump’s late push for helping energize voters across the state.

“The president stepped up in January, called me in the middle of the night, and then he called everybody in Alabama last night,” Moore said. “Donald Trump said this about Barry Moore. He says he’s my friend, he’s a fighter, and he will not let you down.”

His wife, Heather Moore, delivered an emotional introduction before the speech, telling supporters that Barry Moore had fought for the America First movement “from day one.”

The momentum behind Moore appeared to continue growing on Wednesday morning as former Senate candidate Rodney Walker publicly endorsed Moore heading into the runoff campaign. Morgan Murphy previously endorsed Moore and dropped out of the race earlier this year.

Moore closed his speech Tuesday night by thanking volunteers, supporters, and his family before declaring confidence in the road ahead.

“And God’s going to send a garbage man to the United States Senate,” Moore told the crowd.

The Republican runoff election will be held on June 16.
