Former Alabama State Sen. Dick Brewbaker is throwing his support behind Republican congressional candidate Hampton Harris in the race for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District, appearing in a new television and digital advertisement that highlights Harris's conservative record and character ahead of the Aug. 11 Republican primary.

The Harris campaign announced Sunday that the advertisement is now airing across the district. In the spot, Brewbaker, a longtime Montgomery businessman and former State Senator, endorses Harris and praises his conservative values, Christian faith and commitment to representing Alabama families in Washington.

The endorsement marks the latest chapter in the relationship between the two Republicans. Harris endorsed Brewbaker during the 2024 Republican runoff for the same congressional seat, and Brewbaker returned the favor earlier this year after Harris entered the 2026 special election race.

"Dick Brewbaker knows this district and knows what it takes to represent it," Harris said. "His endorsement means a great deal because he has seen my work, my values, and my commitment firsthand. I am grateful for his support and for the opportunity to continue earning the trust of the people of Alabama's 2nd District. In Congress I will never vote to raise taxes on the hardworking people of this district. Families and small businesses are already stretched thin and Washington does not need another dime of their money."

The ad presents Harris as an "America First" conservative and highlights his pledge never to vote for a tax increase. The campaign said the ad is running on television and digital platforms throughout the district.

Brewbaker, who represented parts of Montgomery and Elmore counties in the Alabama Senate from 2010 to 2018 and previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives, has remained an influential voice in Republican politics. He was the GOP runner-up in the 2024 race for the 2nd District seat before later endorsing Harris in the current campaign.

The Republican primary for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District is scheduled for Aug. 11.
