The Conservative Party of Alabama has endorsed Brent Woodall in the Republican primary race for Alabama Public Service Commission Place 2, adding another endorsement to the Tuscumbia attorney’s Statewide campaign.

The group said its support for Woodall centers on his push for lower utility costs, increased transparency in rate decisions, and stronger oversight of Alabama’s utility regulators.

Conservative Party of Alabama is a part of the State’s broader conservative movement, supporting limited government, fiscal restraint, free enterprise, religious liberty, and opposition to what it views as costly government overreach.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Conservative Party Alabama,” said Woodall. “For too long, too many decisions about our power bills have been made out of sight, with too little explanation and too little accountability. I'm running to put the people of Alabama first, shine a light on how rates are set, and stand up to entrenched interests that treat the PSC like a rubber stamp instead of a watchdog.”

Woodall, a longtime attorney from Tuscumbia, has built his campaign around utility affordability and regulatory accountability. He previously served as an Assistant Attorney General, Assistant United States Attorney, and Chief of Staff to a Commissioner at the Alabama Public Service Commission.

He is seeking the Republican nomination for PSC Place 2 in a race that has drawn attention over rising utility costs and the role of the Commission in overseeing regulated power companies across the State.

The Alabama Public Service Commission regulates utilities and transportation services across Alabama, including oversight tied to electric and natural gas providers. PSC races have become increasingly visible in recent election cycles as consumer advocates and candidates debate energy costs, transparency, and the Commission’s relationship with utility companies.

Woodall has repeatedly argued the Commission should act more aggressively on behalf of ratepayers. He has criticized Alabama’s historically high utility bills and called for more public accountability in the rate-setting process.

The Republican primary for Alabama Public Service Commission Place 2 is scheduled for May 19.
