Focus On America Backs Pat Bishop for Lt. Governor
Grassroots group cites Bishop’s outsider message and calls for bold leadership in Alabama’s 2026 Lieutenant Governor race
Grassroots organization Focus On America has endorsed Pat Bishop in Alabama’s 2026 race for Lieutenant Governor, giving the Republican candidate a significant boost as he continues to campaign on an outsider message centered on faith, public service and government reform.
The endorsement comes as several candidates compete in what is expected to be one of the state’s most closely watched Republican primaries next year. Bishop, a Veteran and Cullman County deputy, entered the race earlier this year while stressing what he described as a life devoted to service.

Focus On America is a grassroots organization focused on civic engagement, constitutional principles and support for candidates it believes reflect conservative values. The organization works to educate voters and encourage involvement in state and local elections.
Focus on America previously accepted candidate surveys as part of its endorsement process. The group said it intended to evaluate candidates on issues important to its members before making endorsements in Alabama races.
Bishop has worked to position himself as a nontraditional candidate in the Lieutenant Governor contest. In January, he formally filed to run on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, saying the timing reflected his focus on service and unity.
Bishop’s background is in law enforcement, military service and mediation work. His campaign has also emphasized issues including public safety, mental health, education and workforce development.
Bishop is one of several Republicans seeking the open Lieutenant Governor seat in 2026. The race has drawn attention from both establishment Republicans and grassroots conservative activists, particularly with no incumbent in the contest.
