Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry has launched a new Statewide television and digital advertising campaign as he seeks election to the Alabama Public Service Commission, Place 1.

The campaign’s new 30-second spot, titled “Man of the People,” began airing this week across Alabama media markets. According to the Gentry campaign, the ad is part of a broader media push that includes broadcast television, cable, streaming platforms, and targeted digital advertising.

The commercial opens with Gentry dressed in a suit before shifting to scenes that present him in a more familiar role as a law enforcement officer. In the ad, he pulls off his tie, puts on boots, and prepares for duty, reinforcing the campaign’s message that he is “a lawman, not a career politician.”

“Some may think this job calls for another polished politician, but that’s not who I am,” Gentry said. “I’ve spent my life working for the people, protecting families, and standing up for what’s right. That’s exactly what I’ll do on the Public Service Commission.”

Gentry is a Marine Veteran and has served as sheriff of Cullman County since 2015. He previously announced his candidacy for the Commission’s Place 1 seat in June 2025.

His campaign has focused heavily on utility costs, transparency, and public accountability within the commission, which regulates electric, gas, and transportation utilities across Alabama.

“Alabama doesn’t need more politics,” Gentry added. “It needs a Sheriff. Families across this State are paying the price, and they deserve someone who will stand up and fight for them.”

The campaign said the ad buy significantly expands Gentry’s Statewide reach as voters begin paying closer attention to the 2026 election cycle.

Gentry has repeatedly said he wants to bring “transparency and accountability” to the commission and position himself as an advocate for ratepayers. His campaign website describes him as a conservative candidate focused on protecting Alabama consumers from rising utility costs.

The 2026 Republican primary for the Alabama Public Service Commission is scheduled for May 19, 2026.
