Opelika, AL – October 12, 2026 - For the fourth time, Lee McInnis, the Democratic candidate in Alabama’s 3rd Congressional District, has challenged his opponent, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Saks), to debate.

McInnis sent four certified letters to Rogers’ campaign office, each offering to debate Rogers. McInnis agreed to hold the debate anywhere in the 3rd District, with any non-partisan group acting as moderator.

“Experienced campaign organizers tell me I’m crazy for giving away that much at the outset,” McInnis said, “but I’ve done it to show my willingness to give the people a fair and open conversation between thetwo candidates. I’m willing to do practically anything to make this debate happen, and I’m not worried about the outcome.”

McInnis also pointed out that the House of Representatives has been out of session since September 18th, and Rogers hasn't held a public event since. “For someone running for public office, he doesn’t seem to care much for the public,” McInnis said.

Lee McInnis is a native Alabamian who spent 30 years in the Army and the Intelligence Community, including service in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is running to serve the working Americans of Alabama’s 3rd Congressional District.

Lee McInnis is an Alabama native with 30-plus-years of experience in the U.S. Army and the Defense Intelligence Community.
