Jordan, NRA Add Support for Rhett Marques

U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF), and the House Conservatives Fund have endorsed Alabama State Rep. Rhett Marques in the closing days of the Republican special primary for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District.

The endorsements add to a growing list of national and State Republican supporters backing Marques ahead of the Aug. 11 special primary, following an earlier endorsement from President Donald Trump.

Marques welcomed the support, calling the endorsements a sign that conservative leaders are united behind his campaign.

"I'm honored to have the endorsement of some of the strongest, battle-tested conservatives in the country," said Marques. "We're in the fight to save our country from the socialist Left, and I will stand alongside President Trump and Congressman Jim Jordan to put America First and deliver common sense for the American people."

Jordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee and founded the House Freedom Caucus, said Marques has demonstrated a consistent conservative record.

"Rhett Marques is a proven conservative fighter who will stand up to the left's lurch toward communism in the House. Together, we will defend hardworking American families, cut taxes, deport criminal illegal aliens, and get boys out of our girls' sports. President Trump endorsed Rhett Marques because he knows that now, more than ever, we need leaders like Rhett in Congress."

The NRA Political Victory Fund also endorsed Marques and awarded him an "A" rating, describing him as a "solidly pro-gun" candidate with a strong record of supporting Second Amendment rights. The NRA-PVF grades candidates based on their positions and records on firearm-related issues.

Marques said he intends to continue working with Trump and congressional conservatives on gun rights if elected.

"I will continue fighting alongside President Trump to defend the God-given, constitutional rights of law-abiding Alabamians to keep and bear arms and protect their families."

According to the campaign, the latest endorsements join a broad coalition of Republican elected officials, industry groups and conservative organizations already backing Marques. Those supporters include President Trump, U.S. House Republican leadership, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt, Lt. Gov. Will Ainsworth, the Alabama Farmers Federation, the Rural Electric Cooperatives of Alabama, the Alabama Forestry Association, the Home Builders Association of Alabama, the Associated General Contractors of Alabama, Manufacture Alabama, the Alabama Grocers Association, and the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama.

The special Republican primary for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11.
