Kids Edition Newspaper Pushes Faith-Based Reading
TAB Media Group’s Kids Edition offers screen-free, faith-based content with stories, puzzles, and values for families seeking wholesome reading
A faith-based newspaper for children is gaining attention as families look for ways to step back from screens and bring more print reading into the home, especially with the summer months approaching.
The publication, called The Kids Edition, is produced by TAB Media Group (publisher of The Alabama Baptist and The Baptist Paper) and is designed as an ecumenical resource, written to be welcoming for families across many Christian traditions. Leaders say the goal is to give children something engaging, colorful, and rooted in faith while also offering a break from constant digital input.
The idea for the paper came out of conversations with specialists working with Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries. It officially launched in October 2025, according to Jennifer Davis Rash, President and Editor-in-Chief of TAB Media Group.

“Parents of young children are seeking solid, trustworthy resources to help get their kids off screens,” Rash said. “We have received glowing responses from across the state and nation and are excited to see the engagement grow with churches, homeschool groups, grandparents, and parents.”
Rash noted that the monthly publication is produced by a team that includes Carrie Brown McWhorter, Lauren C. Grim, Julie Donavan, and others who help shape each issue with fresh content and design.
Each edition includes short articles, puzzles, jokes, and activities aimed at children. The goal, organizers say, is to create a simple entry point for family conversations about Christian values and everyday life lessons.
