LaPoint Announces AL-3 Congressional Run
Terri LaPoint

Investigative journalist and author Terri LaPoint will be running for Congress in Alabama’s 3rd District. She will be facing incumbent Mike Rogers in the Republican primary. Rogers has held the seat since 2003.

“Alabama families deserve a voice,” LaPoint said. “For too long, Washington DC has been ignoring the needs of everyday families across Alabama and across America. I've been an advocate for families for several decades, and my record shows that. “The forgotten family deserves a voice, and I will be that voice.

“I am a true conservative. I'm not a politician. I'm not part of the establishment. This is a grassroots campaign. But I promise to fight for families until my dying breath,” LaPoint told ALPolitics.com.

LaPoint was the lead investigative journalist for MedicalKidnap.com, a division of Health Impact News, for more than four years. During that time she investigated and published articles on hundreds of cases involving family members, mostly children, taken from their families by child or adult protective services. She has also worked as an independent investigative journalist at RealNewsSpark.com. In 2017 she received Michelle Malkin’s Bulldog Award for her investigative work on medical kidnapping.

Most recently, LaPoint is the author of Voices That Will Not Be Silenced, which further exposes “the dark underbelly of agencies that are supposed to protect children.” A resident of Trussville, she is President of Republican Women of Trussville.

Long-term Congressman Mike Rogers is the Chair of the powerful House Armed Services Committee. Rumors have recently been circulating that he would not be seeking re-election. ALPolitics.com reached out to his office, which denied this late Tuesday afternoon.
