Slatton Endorses Jay Mitchell for Attorney General

District Attorney Scott Slatton of Alabama’s 25th Judicial Circuit, which covers Marion and Winston Counties, has endorsed Jay Mitchell for Attorney General, adding fresh momentum to Mitchell’s campaign in a closely watched Statewide race.

Slatton, a veteran prosecutor known across North Alabama for a firm approach to criminal cases, framed his endorsement around Mitchell’s courtroom record and legal background. He said Alabama needs an Attorney General who understands trial work from the ground up and can bring renewed focus to public safety and prosecution strategy.

“Jay Mitchell is the only candidate in this race with real courtroom experience,” said Slatton. “He’s tried cases, handled complex litigation, and served as a judge on the Alabama Supreme Court. Alabama needs new leadership in the Attorney General’s Office, and Jay brings the requisite experience and work ethic to provide it. He’s earned my enthusiastic support.”

Mitchell thanked Slatton and highlighted his long career in local prosecution work.
