Washington, D.C.—On Friday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced the Chaplain In-Service Procurement Program, which will allow members of the military who aspire to the calling of chaplain to attend seminary while continuing to serve.
Chris Motz, Senior Counsel for First Liberty Institute, responded to Secretary Hegseth’s announcement:
Since 1775, the ministry of military chaplains has ensured that those who fight to defend our nation have the spiritual guidance they need. Now, those who want to follow God’s calling to serve as chaplains will not have to leave the military service they love to study to better prepare to provide that service. We commend President Trump and Secretary Hegseth for taking bold steps like this toward protecting religious freedom for those who sacrifice the most to defend it byensuring that every chaplain in our military is able to fulfill their mission to be the spiritual light for our brave warriors.
