Republican Tommy Tuberville and Democrat Doug Jones each easily won their respective primaries on Tuesday, and are both pivoting to their rematch in November, with the winner slated to be the next Governor of Alabama.

Tuberville took to social media to say:

“Thank you, Alabama.
It’s been an honor representing you over the past 6 years in the United States Senate.
And I look forward to earning your vote to be Alabama’s next Governor in November.
We’re just getting started. 🇺🇸”

Doug Jones issued the follow statement:

“Tonight, voters made clear that they are ready for change. I’m deeply grateful for the trust people have placed in me and humbled by everyone who made this victory possible — our staff, volunteers, supporters, and every person who cast a ballot.
This primary was about more than one campaign. It was about the belief that Alabama deserves a state government that works for the people — not just the well-connected and powerful. Tonight, we begin the work of building that future together.
Now, we unite and move forward, because building a better Alabama will take all of us.”

Tuberville and Jones will lead their respective parties from the top of the ticket in the November 3rd general election.
