Tankersley Talks COVID, Integrity on Podcast
GOP Lt. Gov. candidate Stuart Tankersley joins Heart of Dixie podcast to discuss COVID policy, State politics, and restoring trust in government
Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor Dr. Stuart Tankersley joined Harry Still and Brandon Moseley on the Heart of Dixie Podcast for a wide-ranging conversation on public health, politics, and trust in government.
Tankersley, a physician and Army veteran, used the interview to outline his campaign platform while offering pointed criticism of government actions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On public health, Tankersley argued that government mandates during the pandemic limited doctors’ ability to treat patients effectively. He said he worked with other physicians to develop treatment approaches outside of federal guidance, emphasizing what he described as the need for “medical autonomy” and individualized care.
The conversation also turned to Alabama politics, where Tankersley and the hosts discussed what they see as entrenched influence from powerful interests in Montgomery. The group referred to a broader “machine” in State politics, pointing to campaign financing, gambling debates, and the role of national organizations in shaping policy.
Tankersley said his campaign is rooted in challenging that system and restoring public confidence in State leadership. He framed the Lieutenant Governor’s office as a potential check on both State and federal overreach, stressing transparency and accountability as central goals.

Beyond politics, Tankersley spoke at length about health and nutrition, linking diet and gut health to broader public well-being. He raised concerns about food quality and industrial agriculture, arguing that these factors play a larger role in long-term health outcomes than many policymakers acknowledge.
The discussion also touched on American history and cultural identity, with participants reflecting on the importance of preserving heritage and resisting what they described as modern ideological pressures.
Tankersley is one of several Republicans seeking the Lieutenant Governor’s office in the 2026 election cycle. His campaign has focused on grassroots outreach and messaging centered on personal liberty, government reform, and public trust.
