The 2020 Election: the Ultimate Political Litmus Test
Trump’s Thursday night speech was either still more lies, or old news — and which one you choose is the most important political decision of 2026
Thursday evening, President Trump gave a speech from the White House in which he addressed the issue of American election security. His administration has now declassified a cache of documents assembled over time that allegedly show interference in the 2020 election both foreign and domestic, as well as copious efforts to conceal that interference.
In making this speech, and in revealing these documents, he provoked a number of responses from all parts of the political spectrum. These responses fall into one of two categories:
- This is all nonsense. It’s never been proven. Our elections are secure, especially 2020
- The 2020 election was blatantly stolen. This is all old news. What took you so long? And, when will the Perp Walks start?
That’s it. Two widely differing beliefs about the 2020 election. It’s one of the few black and white issues in American politics today. You either believe the 2020 election was secure and the results were accurate — or you don’t. You either believe that Old Joe really did get nearly 13 million more votes than Barack Hussein Obama, despite winning hundreds fewer Counties — or you don’t. You either a) screech mindlessly and/or b) squeeze your eyes tightly shut, stick your fingers in your ears and go LALALALA every time someone mentions the multiple irregularities in the 2020 election — or you don’t.
You’re either a 2020 Election Truster — or you’re a 2020 Election Denier. You can’t be both, and there is no middle ground. The 2020 election was and is the single most critical issue of our time because, if it was stolen, the Republic was overthrown and we’ve been living in a rolling Constitutional crisis ever since. And, if it was stolen, and then covered up? Acts of war? Probably. Sedition, at the very least, and arguably treason — for which the historical penalty has been death. That it was done via voter fraud — as the President said Thursday night — strikes to the heart of our participatory democratic process.
Which kind of person you are? It’s the most important thing I want to know about you, politically — because it tells me a LOT about how your political brain operates. It also puts you on one side or the other of our horribly divided body politic.
As far as I’m concerned, what the President said on Thursday night was Old News. I wrote about the 2020 election in Beyond MAGA (shameless plug, link in bio below). If you really want to go into depth on it, or you’re just curious, I’d recommend you start with Mollie Hemingway’s RIGGED: How the Media, Big Tech and the Democrats Seized our Elections. Then read Joe Hoft’s The Steal, Vols I—III. Those books will give you a decent grounding on what happened.
TRIGGER WARNING: If you’re a 2020 Truster, you won’t like those books. They’re filled with icky, inconvenient facts and stuff that might hurt your wittle feewings, and they might make you gasp! change your mind. Probably not, but you have been warned.
I suppose it’s time to wonder exactly what is in all those declassified files. I’m sure we’ll find out, and I’m expecting lots of fun stuff to appear on social media over the next few days. It’s bound to be exciting, but…
I’m not terribly enthused.
Yes, China and other foreign influences likely played a part, but what I really wanted to hear Thursday night was about all the domestic shenanigans around the 2020 election. When will the people who shut down the Fulton County Arena be questioned (by people who really want answers)? When will the people who received the pallets of ballots in Pennsylvania be put under oath and deposed? When will we see perp walks from the recent Michigan raid? And when will some of the Big Names involved get their perp walks?
Until and unless we start seeing that, I refuse to be excited. This administration has disappointed me too many times already (gaslighting us on the Epstein files? Yeah, this “lowlife” will forget that three days after the sun burns cold, Mr. President).
I’d like to hope that, at long last, we’ll see some truth and justice be applied to the 2020 election. In many ways, it will be a hollow victory — too much of the damage done by four years of the illegitimate Biden regime can never be properly undone — but justice delayed is still justice of a sort. And, there may be some deterrent value in it — but given the hubris of the players at the level, I doubt it.
At any rate, I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.
At least we’ll have something besides the Alabama races to talk about this weekend.
