Birmingham, AL — The City of Birmingham’s Department of Human Resources will host “Pink Power: A Celebration of Courage” on Friday, Oct. 9, bringing together breast cancer survivors, supporters, City employees, and community partners for an afternoon dedicated to courage, hope, and awareness. The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Birmingham City Hall and Linn Park, 710 20th Street North.
The event will begin with an indoor Insight & Empowerment Session from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the second floor of City Hall. Featured speaker Angela Hunter of My Beauty for Ashes will share her inspirational story, followed by a medical expert question-and-answer session.
Beginning at 11 a.m., the celebration will move outdoors to Linn Park and the 20th Street area in front of City Hall. The outdoor festival will feature community vendors, food trucks, music, activities, and a tribute wall, where attendees can leave messages of hope, encouragement, and remembrance. A special unveiling will take place at 11:45 a.m. in front of City Hall in partnership with Virtue, Inc.
The afternoon will include a special presentation, a two-song performance by Tracy’s Sensational Seniors, and the event’s signature Survivor Walk at 1 p.m. The Survivor Walk will bring breast cancer survivors, Pink Power Ambassadors, supporters, and community leaders together for a short walk beginning at Linn Park Plaza and returning to the tribute wall. The walk will be followed by a group photo and tribute moment honoring survivors and those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer.
Community members are encouraged to wear pink and join the City in celebrating the courage, resilience, and strength of breast cancer survivors while standing in solidarity with those currently fighting the disease and honoring those who have lost their lives.
