Trump Endorses Jerry Carl in AL-01 Race

President Donald J. Trump has thrown his support behind Jerry Carl in Alabama’s 1st Congressional District race, giving the Mobile Republican his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”

The endorsement, announced on Trump’s Truth Social platform, marks a significant development in the race to succeed outgoing Congressman Barry Moore, who is running for the U.S. Senate. Trump praised Carl as an “America First Patriot” and credited him with being a loyal supporter of the MAGA movement from the beginning.

“A Highly Respected Legislator, and Successful Businessman, Jerry has been an incredible Voice for MAGA, and has been with me from the very beginning!” Trump wrote. “In Congress, he will fight tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Support our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Champion our Military/Veterans, Safeguard our Elections, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”

Trump concluded the endorsement by stating that Carl has his “Complete and Total Endorsement” and “HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

Carl responded with gratitude, framing the endorsement as a validation of his commitment to the America First agenda.

“I am incredibly honored to receive the official endorsement of President Donald J. Trump,” Carl said. “His commitment to putting America First is exactly what our country needs, and I am proud to stand with him in this fight. Thank you, Mr. President. I will never let you down!”

Carl represented Alabama’s 1st Congressional District from 2021 until 2025 before losing a Republican primary to Moore following court-ordered redistricting. The Supreme Court’s recent decision in Louisiana v. Callais paved the way for Alabama to return to a congressional map more closely resembling the districts Carl previously represented, placing Mobile and Baldwin counties back together in a strongly Republican district.

Trump’s endorsement is widely expected to carry substantial weight with Republican primary voters in Alabama, where the president remains highly popular among the GOP base. The endorsement also comes after Trump declined to back a candidate in the district during the initial stages of the race, making his support for Carl a notable late entry into the contest.

The special Republican primary for Alabama’s 1st Congressional District is scheduled for Aug. 11.
