Why Jared Hudson’s Inexperience Could Cost Alabama in the U.S. Senate — And Why Barry Moore’s Proven Conservative Record Matters.

With so many conversations happening across Alabama about the U.S. Senate race, I felt it was important to address growing concerns surrounding Jared Hudson’s campaign.

Those concerns are not insignificant. Questions have been raised regarding the financial handling of Hudson's nonprofit organization, including reports of a federal ethics complaint tied to his campaign. There have also been concerns about Hudson publicly attacking Congressman Barry Moore’s sincerity of faith — something many Alabama conservatives viewed as crossing a line. In addition, voters are increasingly asking a simple question that still has not been clearly answered: What exactly is Jared Hudson’s plan for Alabama?

So far, the campaign has relied heavily on emotional speeches, repeated talking points, and carefully scripted messaging. His consultants attempt to frame this repetition as “consistency,” but after more than 15 years involved in politics, I understand how political consulting works. Often, the goal is to turn weaknesses into strengths through a messaging strategy.

But repetition is not leadership.

A true leader evolves with the issues facing the people they seek to represent. A serious Senate candidate should be discussing inflation, border security, agriculture, military readiness, energy independence, federal spending, economic development, and the specific challenges Alabama families face every single day. Instead, voters continue hearing the same sermon-like speech at nearly every campaign stop, with very little policy detail or substantive vision for the future of the state.

For example, Alabama farmers are facing rising fuel and fertilizer costs. Small businesses continue struggling with inflation and workforce shortages. Veterans need better access to healthcare services, and rural communities are still fighting for economic growth and infrastructure improvements. Yet voters rarely hear detailed solutions from Hudson on these issues. Emotional appeals may inspire crowds, but they do not prepare someone to navigate the complexities of the United States Senate.

And with Memorial Day approaching, voters should be especially careful not to confuse patriotism with qualification. We should absolutely honor our veterans and remember those who sacrificed for this country. But patriotism alone is not a governing strategy. Emotional “heartstring” moments cannot replace experience, policy knowledge, and the ability to operate effectively within one of the most complex political systems in the world.

Washington, D.C., is not simple. While career politicians can absolutely become corrupt, there is also a major difference between entrenched establishment politicians who spend decades enriching themselves and leaders like Congressman Barry Moore, who has spent years learning how Washington works while consistently fighting for conservative Alabama values. He fought Democrats during his first 3 years in Congress and pushed back against Biden. He has experience fighting Democrats. Hudson has never legislated.

Barry Moore understands the legislative process. He knows how to navigate the federal government and has a proven record of delivering results while standing firm on conservative principles. His voting record consistently ranks among the strongest conservative records in Congress, maintaining a lifetime conservative rating above 95% from organizations that track constitutional and conservative voting performance. His Liberty score is a 96, and his Heritage Action score is a 100. Those are numbers Hudson doesn't have.

That matters.

Experience is not just about years served. It is about measurable results. Congressman Moore’s office has helped return more than $21.5 million directly back to Alabama constituents from federal agencies, including the VA, IRS, and Social Security Administration. His office has also resolved nearly 8,000 constituent cases involving veterans' benefits, passports, Social Security, visas, and other federal services that directly impact Alabama families. Moore has hosted veterans resource fairs across South Alabama, regularly conducts mobile office hours in rural communities, and has built a reputation for constituent accessibility that earned bipartisan Democracy Awards for workplace environment and constituent accountability.

Beyond constituent services, Moore serves on both the House Judiciary and Agriculture Committees, where he has worked alongside conservative leaders like Chairman Jim Jordan while consistently advocating for Alabama farmers, veterans, border security, and conservative priorities. Earlier this week, Moore earned the endorsement of Alabama’s farming community, adding to a growing coalition of conservative support that includes President Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, Turning Point Action, the Susan B. Anthony organization, and numerous conservative lawmakers across the country.

Alabama is entering one of the most important periods in its history. Our state is growing rapidly, attracting industry, jobs, and national attention. If managed correctly, Alabama has the opportunity to become one of the leading conservative economic powerhouses in America. But we cannot afford to gamble that future on inexperience, vague messaging, and emotional campaign speeches without substance.

Leadership requires more than passion. It requires preparation, discipline, knowledge, and proven results. President Trump recognized that when he endorsed Barry Moore. Alabama voters should recognize it as well before it is too late.
