Wes Allen Signs Moms for Liberty Parents Pledge
Allen backs parental rights pledge as education and family authority remain key issues in Alabama’s 2026 race
Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen, now a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, has signed the Moms for Liberty Parents Pledge, aligning himself with a growing movement that places decision-making authority firmly in the hands of parents.
The pledge affirms that parents—not government institutions—hold primary responsibility for their children’s upbringing, education, and overall well-being.
Allen’s move comes as parental rights continue to shape policy debates across Alabama and the nation. Key issues include school transparency, healthcare decisions, and the broader role of government in children’s lives. The topic has become a central point of discussion as schools take on expanded roles beyond academics.
At his signing, Allen said, “I proudly signed the parental rights pledge as children are a gift from God to their parents, not the government.”
Supporters of the pledge say it reflects growing concern among families who want more visibility and input into decisions affecting their children.

Emily Jones, Chair of Moms for Liberty – Madison County, said Allen’s decision mirrors what she is hearing from parents across her community.
“Parents are paying closer attention than ever before to what’s happening with our children” Jones said. “They want transparency, they want accountability, and most importantly, they want to be respected as the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives. Wes Allen stepping up and signing this pledge shows he understands that.”
Allen has joined a number of other State and local officials and candidates who have signed the parents pledge.
As the 2026 Lieutenant Governor’s race takes shape, candidate positions on parental rights and education policy will remain key issues for voters across the State.
