Jerry Carl Wins Peanut Growers' Endorsement
Alabama peanut growers back Jerry Carl, citing his support for family farms, rural communities and agriculture in the AL-1 race
Former U.S. Rep. Jerry Carl has picked up another key endorsement in his campaign to return to Congress, this time from one of Alabama's leading agricultural organizations.
Carl's campaign announced Monday that the Alabama Peanut Producers Association (APPA) has endorsed his bid for Alabama's 1st Congressional District, citing his record of supporting family farms, rural communities and the state's agricultural industry. The endorsement adds to a growing list of support Carl has received from Alabama business and industry groups during the special election campaign.
"The Alabama Peanut Producers Association is proud to endorse Jerry Carl for Alabama's First Congressional District," said APPA Vice President Mark Kaiser.
"Jerry deeply understands the challenges facing Alabama's farmers and has consistently fought for policies that protect our agricultural industry, support family farms, and ensure our producers can continue feeding America. We know Jerry will be a steady voice for agriculture in Congress."
Peanuts remain one of Alabama's most valuable row crops, with thousands of acres planted each year across the southern half of the state. Baldwin, Covington, Geneva, Henry, Coffee, Dale and surrounding Counties are among the State's leading peanut-producing areas, making agriculture a significant part of the economy throughout much of the 1st Congressional District.
Carl said the endorsement reflects relationships he has built with Alabama farmers throughout his career.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Alabama Peanut Producers Association," Carl said.
"Throughout my life, I've had the privilege of building relationships with farmers across our state, including many of our peanut producers. I've seen firsthand the dedication, sacrifice, and hard work it takes to keep these farms running. Protecting their livelihoods isn't just good policy—it's personal. I'll continue fighting to reduce costly regulations, strengthen our agricultural economy, and ensure Alabama's farmers have every opportunity to succeed for generations to come."
The campaign said Carl will continue traveling across Alabama's 1st Congressional District to meet with voters while emphasizing support for agriculture, rural communities and conservative economic policies.
The APPA endorsement follows several recent endorsements Carl has secured from Alabama industry organizations, including the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama, Manufacture Alabama, the Home Builders Association of Alabama and the Electric Cooperatives of Alabama, as he seeks to return to Congress in the Nov. 3 special general election.
