Judge Matt Fridy Credits "God's Grace" in Heart Attack Recovery
“The surprising progress I have already made is a direct result of God’s grace.” - Judge Matt Fridy.

Alabama Court of Civil Appeals Judge Matt Fridy is on the road to recovery after suffering a major heart attack last week, and he says his survival is nothing short of divine intervention.
In a statement released days after the incident, Fridy said, “The surprising progress I have already made is a direct result of God’s grace.” He went on to thank his wife Kimberly, a pharmacist, for acting quickly and calling 911. “Because she called 911 when she did, we avoided a very different and unpleasant outcome.”
Fridy, a well-respected conservative voice in Alabama's judiciary and a former member of the state legislature, expressed deep gratitude to the Pelham Fire and Rescue team, as well as to the doctors and nurses at HeartSouth and Shelby Baptist Medical Center who treated him.
Known for his intellect, integrity, and strong Christian faith, Fridy referenced the Bible verse Jeremiah 17:14 in his message: “Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.”
Despite the severity of the heart attack, Fridy remains focused on his recovery. “My heart may have been temporarily weakened, but my will is strong, my mind is sharp, and my determination to heal and help raise our five children is mighty,” he said.
As he continues to heal, Fridy asked for continued prayers and support from the community. His family has requested privacy during this time.
Judge Fridy’s experience is a powerful reminder of how quickly life can change—and how faith, family, and timely medical care can make all the difference.
