P&CMA Endorses Corey Hill in Ag Commissioner Runoff
Petroleum and Convenience Marketers of Alabama back Corey Hill ahead of the June 16 Republican runoff for Agriculture Commissioner
The Petroleum and Convenience Marketers of Alabama (P&CMA) has endorsed Corey Hill in the Republican runoff for Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, adding another industry organization to the growing list of groups supporting the Marshall County farmer and businessman.
The endorsement comes as Hill campaigns ahead of the June 16 runoff election for the open Statewide office. Hill, the Mayor of Douglas, has built his campaign around his experience as a fourth-generation farmer, small business owner, and local elected official. Earlier in the campaign, he also secured endorsements from several major agricultural organizations, including the Alabama Farmers Federation's FarmPAC and the Alabama Cattlemen's Association's BeefPAC.
Announcing the endorsement, P&CMA President Bart Fletcher said Hill's record of leadership and business experience made him the right choice for the position.
“In an era when effective, compassionate, conscientious and proven leadership is more vital than ever. It is imperative that we elect proven leaders,” Fletcher said. “This is why on behalf of our 225 member companies, their 60,000 plus employees as well as the 3,683 convenience stores that make up our association, we not only endorse Corey Hill, but commit to working with him to lead our state forward. Corey has proven himself as a natural leader in the agricultural environment, along with running several businesses. He understands how all this impacts not only our state but our families. So, please join us in supporting Corey.”

Hill welcomed the endorsement, noting the close relationship between the Department of Agriculture and Industries and Alabama's fuel and convenience store sector.
“Petroleum and Convenience Marketers understand the importance of the Department of Agriculture and the role that is played in ensuring that gas pumps across the state dispense accurate measurements. Having accurate gas pumps is always important but as prices at the pump rise, we must ensure that every consumer is getting every drop of gasoline that they paid for,” Hill said. “To have their support going into the June 16 runoff election is encouraging.”
The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries is responsible for inspecting fuel pumps and other commercial measuring devices statewide to ensure consumers receive the quantity of fuel or product they purchase.
P&CMA represents petroleum marketers, fuel distributors, convenience store operators, and related businesses across Alabama. The trade association advocates on legislative and regulatory issues affecting the State's fuel and convenience store industry.
The Republican nominee will advance to the November general election to succeed outgoing Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate, who is term-limited from seeking another term.
