Scott Dawson Backs Wes Allen for Lt. Governor
Evangelical leader Scott Dawson endorses Wes Allen, citing faith, leadership and years of consistent public service
Christian evangelist and conference founder Scott Dawson announced Wednesday that he is endorsing Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen in the Republican runoff for Lieutenant Governor.
Dawson, founder of the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association and the Strength to Stand Conference, said his support for Allen is based on a long personal relationship and Allen’s record of public service.
“Why do we need to be for one person and against another? Let’s not be like that in 2026. I’m voting for Wes Allen to be our next Lt. Governor for several reasons. 1. I’ve known him for over a decade and have seen him be consistent in his walk. 2. I believe he has the skill set necessary to lead Alabama. 3. He has the experience in statewide office that has allowed him to develop relationships to be effective in office. 4. He has been willing to serve the state while also leading his family,” Dawson said. “Again, I’m not against his opponent. I wish him all the success possible in his endeavors. I’m voting for Wes Allen in 2026 and would ask you to consider supporting him.”

Dawson is a well-known evangelical leader whose ministry has reached audiences across Alabama and the nation. His annual Strength to Stand Conference draws thousands of students and features Christian speakers, musicians and ministry leaders.
Allen welcomed the endorsement and praised Dawson’s ministry work.
“I am deeply honored to have earned Scott Dawson’s endorsement,” Allen said. “My Christian faith is the most important thing to me. Scott is a man that has made a profound impact with his ministry for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is a man of deep conviction and a person who has helped changed lives in our state, our nation and across the world.”
Allen, who has served as Alabama’s Secretary of State since 2023, entered the Lieutenant Governor’s race in February 2025 after previously serving as Pike County probate judge and a member of the Alabama House of Representatives.
The endorsement adds to a growing list of supporters Allen has received during the campaign, including former University of Alabama football coach Gene Stallings, numerous Republican sheriffs, business groups and industry organizations.
Allen will face former Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl in the Republican runoff election scheduled for June 16.
