"The Comeback Kid 2": Rep. Barry Moore Triumphs in Alabama District 1 Primary

In a stunning display of resilience and determination, Congressman Barry Moore has emerged victorious in the Alabama District 1 Republican Primary, defying the odds and securing his nomination in the face of dark money outsiders trying to influence the election.

The race, which pitted Moore against fellow Republican Jerry Carl, unfolded into a fiercely contested battle that captivated voters across south Alabama. Despite facing an onslaught of negative attacks and nearly $4 million spent in efforts to unseat him, Moore prevailed with a decisive victory, clinching nearly 51.5% of the vote compared to Carl's 48.5%.

“I am grateful to God, my family, the voters, my staff, and the many dedicated volunteers and supporters who made tonight possible,” said Moore. “I am excited about getting to work for the people of Alabama’s First District. My wife Heather and I spent thousands of hours traveling the new district and getting to know the wonderful people who are fighting for the same things we are — small government, our constitutional freedoms, fiscal responsibility, and a secure border. The First District can count on me to hold the line and be their true conservative voice in Washington.”

With 99% of precincts reporting, Moore led with 53,591 votes, while Carl garnered 50,496 votes, illustrating the 3% margin that ultimately decided the race.

Moore, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, was endorsed by Chairman Jim Jordan, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Senator Ted Cruz, the House Freedom Fund, Eagle Forum of Alabama PAC, the Alabama Republican Assembly, The Christian Coalition of Alabama and the Alabama First Responders Association. Carl was endorsed by numerous local officials including some Legislators, Mayors and Sheriff's who had expressed "concern" that Moore wouldn't represent the Gulf Coast like Carl had claimed.

The victory marks a remarkable turnaround for Moore, who faced daunting predictions just a week ago when a poll suggested Carl held a significant lead. Yet, reminiscent of his 2020 triumph against Dothan businessman Jeff Coleman, Moore once again defied expectations, earning the moniker of
"The Comeback Kid 2."

Throughout the campaign, Moore faced relentless attacks from far-left dark money groups such as the Americans For Conservative Excellence PAC funded by New York hedge fund billionaire and Trump critic Ken Griffin. In addition, the South Alabama Conservatives PAC, led by political insider Dalton Dismukes, who had previously spearheaded Jeff Coleman's unsuccessful bid against Moore in 2020, also spent nearly $1 million in the race. The SAC PAC was funded by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Jimmy Raines, Gulf Distributing, and McWane, Inc. Despite the dark and dishonest history of negative campaigning, Moore remained steadfast, focused on his vision for Alabama, and undeterred by the barrage of vicious attacks.

A key factor in Moore's victory was the unwavering support of his wife Heather, whose tireless efforts in meeting people and campaigning across the Wiregrass and Gulf Coast regions of Alabama bolstered his campaign. Additionally, Moore assembled a formidable campaign team of dedicated volunteers and staff, including the rumored return of political media expert and strategist Jonathan Barbee, whose innovative media tactics were instrumental in Moore's 2020 successful bid for Congress.

In this year's race, Moore leveraged digital media, live events, and social engagement to connect with voters and amplify his message. His strategic focus on grassroots mobilization and community outreach resonated strongly with constituents, solidifying his position as a champion of conservative Alabama values.

Moore is poised to face Democrat Tom Holmes in the general election. Holmes, a Mobile native with a diverse background in advocacy and community service, will have to overcome a more than 75% conservative district to win, which is highly unlikely.

As Congressman Barry Moore celebrates his hard-fought victory, his triumph is a testament to the power of perseverance and the enduring spirit of the American political landscape. With the general election on the horizon, Moore remains committed to serving the people of Alabama with integrity, dedication, and unwavering resolve.
