Republican congressional candidate Hampton Harris has picked up the endorsement of the Christian Coalition of Alabama as he continues his campaign in Alabama's 2nd Congressional District in advance of the Aug. 11 Republican primary.

The faith-based organization said it is backing Harris because of his consistent defense of the sanctity of life, his commitment to Biblical principles in public policy, and his willingness to publicly profess his Christian faith.

The Christian Coalition of Alabama seeks to advance Biblical principles in public life by defending the right to life from conception to natural death, protecting the traditional family, safeguarding religious liberty, and encouraging Christians to take an active role in civic leadership. The group has also urged believers to engage in the public square rather than withdraw from it.

Harris welcomed the endorsement, saying it reflects the central message of his campaign.

“I am grateful for the Christian Coalition of Alabama’s support. This is a faith-based campaign. I am pro-life with no exceptions because every life is made in the image of God. And I will stand for Jesus Christ in Washington, D.C. If we who claim His name will not represent Him there, no one else is coming to do it on our behalf. The church cannot hide while culture and policy drift further from truth.”

The endorsement adds to a growing list of conservative organizations supporting Harris during the special election. His campaign previously announced endorsements from the National Eagle Forum PAC and the national Women's Prayer and Voting Army.

Harris has also received the endorsement of former Alabama State Sen. Dick Brewbaker, who praised Harris earlier this year as "a man of his word whose reputation for Christian values and conservative beliefs precedes him."

A Montgomery native, Harris is an attorney, real estate broker, and small business owner. He previously sought the Republican nomination for the district in 2024, was the only Republican in the race initially, and was among the first to enter the 2026 special election following the restoration of Alabama’s 2023 congressional map.

Harris has continued an active grassroots effort throughout the district, focusing on issues including opposition to abortion, protection of religious liberty, support for military families and veterans, and policies rooted in a Biblical worldview.

The Republican primary for Alabama's 2nd Congressional District is scheduled for Aug. 11. The winner will advance to the Nov. 3 general election.
