Jerry Carl Earns NRA Endorsement in AL-01 Race

Jerry Carl's campaign for Alabama's 1st Congressional District picked up another high-profile endorsement Tuesday, with the National Rifle Association backing the former congressman in his bid to return to Washington.

The endorsement adds one of the nation's most recognizable gun rights organizations to Carl's growing list of supporters as the Republican primary campaign continues. In recent weeks, Carl has also secured endorsements from President Donald Trump, U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee, the Home Builders Association of Alabama, the Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama, and other conservative organizations.

Announcing the endorsement, Carl said he remains committed to defending the constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the National Rifle Association," said Carl. "The right to bear arms is a fundamental freedom guaranteed by our Constitution, and I have always fought to defend that right. I vow to continue standing with Alabama's hunters, sportsmen, and gun owners while opposing any effort to infringe upon our Second Amendment liberties."

The NRA endorsement reflects Carl's long-standing support for Second Amendment issues during his time in Congress. Throughout his previous term, he backed legislation supported by gun rights advocates and consistently earned favorable ratings from Second Amendment organizations.

In announcing the endorsement, Carl's campaign said the NRA's support recognizes "Carl's proven record of defending the Second Amendment and standing up for the constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans."
